I am running for the SCCA area director position. There are several areas within the club that I believe would benefit from changes. My determination would be an asset to seeing these changes through. The fact that I am once again a member is evidence to that fact.
What I see as the number one issue is the lack of transparency from the BOD about the clubs finances. The club is supported by members dues and is a 5014(c)(4) not for profit corporation. As such, the club has a legal obligation to make available the financial records to any member on demand. The SCCA BOD has woefully fallen short complying with this requirement, concealing large portions of the clubs budget losses from the membership. Previous and current directors have not addressed this failure. While I was collecting signatures for the area director position, I heard time and time again that the general membership felt the BOD was out of touch and unresponsive to membership concerns and complaints. If elected, I would work to change this.
