Is it possible to repair cast broonze parts, some way to add material?

Can I add some braze material, or will I just end up making the part worse??

The shift forks have a notch where bascially the linkage engages the fork, and that notch is badly worn. It slowly got worse and by adjusting the linkage, I could sort of make it work. Sometimes 2cnd gear would not always engage, not critical since I typically only need 3rd and 4th. But then 3rd started acting up, and now it's stuck, won't go into any gear.

I had it apart not to long ago, to replace the bearings and seals, it all looked new other than the shift forks. The 3rd sychro might not be to good after this weekend, but the problem is the shift forks which are not available.

Better yet anyone have some ford BC 4 spd shift forks?? Were these used on the pervious version of the SPEC racer?
 
Well the british tranmission place that I got the seals and bearings from, couldn't supply shift forks.

That is partly why they didn't get replaced when I did the seals and bearings, it leaked but it was fairly reliable. Sometimes 2cnd gear was diffcult to engage, but rarely ever use that anyhow.

But then 3rd gear gave up, and now no gears will engage.

I will have to join and post on that forum as well.
 
Unfortunately this will not help with the repair. However once you have it fit/repaired as tight as possible you might try applying Loctite 290 - Green. It is a penetrating threadlocker for use after assembly that will fill tiny little spaces and maybe stop the slight movement that allowed the wear to occur over time in the first place.
 
Well the metal parts that move the shift forks, I can add metal or some braze material.

But adding material to the cast bronze parts, that might be tricky.

The piece that engages the shift forks, I might be able to make that a little bigger, but have to make sure it will still egage reverse as well.

Would be much simpler if I could just buy parts, but it's a old rare car, so might have to be more creative.....

I will shoot you an e-mail. I am not sure about repairing them, but assuming I can fight my way to the parts shelf, I might have something that will work.
