All the potential is there to be one of the classic shootouts – location; out there in the Nebraska plains just down the road from historical Fort Kearney – almost imbedded in the ruts of late 1800s Oregon Trial that still remain visible – right on the path of Pony Express – in binocular sight of the flight paths the Sandhill Cranes take during their annual migrations – Pioneer Village and it’s 600 car collection not very far distant – and there in this most unimposing location two of the quickest guns are getting ready to duel to the breaking point under the stresses of the searing sun – promising to be reminiscent of a Loshak / Trash dice from green to checkered flag encounter – the thoughts of the two race days must already be running rampant through the minds of Prather and Brakke – the strategy and guess as to just where the other guy will falter and finally make the mistake – where the tire wear on a track under the simmering heat will begin to take its toll – will the risk of taking the lightest fuel load possible win out – were the correct set of gears chosen – did the last minute tweak of the suspension prove the magic – maybe it was the tire pressure or using a little harder compund tire - but whatever the outcome of the day it has all the ingredients to be something recalled and reflected upon for years as it builds and sets the stage for the Runoffs – ah, the good life and for a few moments it is all happening at MPH – as Mr. Andersons dream comes to life ...... and then out of the west came Lamkin
