Time to say goodbye to the Prod Forum

Heck, I'll pay the domain fee. I don't have a Facebook account and don't plan to start now. Like some others, I'm still a Prod racer, just not a super active one. I run a few MARRS races each year - MARRS has a great HP group btw, we had 12 HP cars for Labor Day last year.

    DP 924 Summit Point

Dunno about the Bundy car, but rumor has it that there may be as many as THREE HP 924s running at Summit Point next year!

    Recommended fire suppression system

Based on my VERY bad experience (sample of one) don't buy an electrically activated fire system. I had one in a Sports 2000 Lola and when it mattered most - nothing happened. It had a test LED that lit up that morning but did zilch when the big red button was pushed. Several times. :eek...

Limited Prep - Alternate Rocker Arms

Certainly sounds that way to me.

    SCCA H-Production Hall of Fame

I move that we declare the first inductee by acclamation. See picture for suggestion... :)

    Changes Proposed for License waivers

As a long time racer who has had more than one waiver along the way, I see no real harm in the online requirement. In fact it wouldn't be that bad an idea to require EVERYONE to do the training at least once every 5 years or so. If you don't believe me, ask 5 long time racers what the SCCA...

    Fuel injection

Mike - what system are you describing?

End of the Production Car Classes ?

Why would the rulesmakers go to all the trouble of completely redefining and upending Prod when they could simply say "GTL cars are allowed to compete in FP"? Or "GTL cars sans wing are allowed to compete in FP"? I do think that the doomsaying and woe is me that seems to bubble up quite often...

    Fuel injection

Half serious suggestion: Use CIS or something similar where fuel is metered by pressure not pulsewidth and the flow is continuous. Another half serious thought - would it be legal within the rules to have the throttle body(s?) / injector(s?) external to a plenum that fed the manifold? You'd...

    Covid at the Runoffs

Umm - There's some bad information here along with some good. N95 masks have proven to be VERY effective at protecting the wearer from COVID infection, and they aren't hazardous to a healthy wearer. COVID viruses don't just float around as individual molecules, they degrade / die very quickly...

    2024 Mike Cummings H-Production Invitational

Hi Jason - We're interested depending on the schedule. Is that out yet? Might also be interested in putting in some sponsorship $$. Al Seim HP VW Scirocco 1.6 HP

Cracks at the base of rocker studs

Devil's advocate - if the cracking is just at the very top and is caused by the unthreaded major diameter running down into the threads exerting a bursting force at the surface, is it possible that it does not need to be repaired? Depends, I suppose, on how deep the threads go.

Legendary Race Car & Crazy Stories: Tom Bought Linda Sharp's Datsun 2000 Roadster | Barn Find Hunter

That's cool! I remember the car, Linda Sharp and Jim Fitzgerald from back in the day - and even sat next to her at Fitzgerald's SCCA Hall of Fame induction. Mike Unger is a long time historic Datsun racer and is now running a new build Honda S2000 in SCCA EP. Edit - I see that Mike posts here...
